Man charged with assault after attempted robbery
SNELLVILLE - A Snellville man was arrested Wednesday after attempting to rob another man at Blenderz bar at 2671 Centerville Highway.
Patrick Anthony McClendon, 17, allegedly struck a man over the back of the head with a tire iron at
1:45 a.m., according to police reports. As the victim and his friend began struggling to control McClendon, he pulled out a knife and slashed the victim's friend on the arm and hand, police reports said.
The two were able to overpower McClendon and hold him down until police arrived. McClendon told the officer he had seen the victim carrying a large amount of money in the bar earlier. McClendon said he wanted the cash to pay for food and a hotel room, the report said.
He was charged with attempted robbery, aggravated assault and possession of a knife during the commission of a crime.
Two injured in drive-by shooting
BUFORD - Two people were injured Tuesday in a drive-by shooting at the Exxon at 4545 S. Lee Street.
The victims were returning from a construction job and stopped for gas at 8:30 p.m., according to police reports. As they left the store, a sport utility vehicle with about seven Hispanic male occupants pulled up. One of the passengers said, "Do you want to die?" Then someone else in the vehicle started shooting.
Armando Desilos, 20, of Snellville was struck in the foot, and a bullet fragment also ricocheted and hit him in the neck. Fidencio Garcia, 37, of Snellville was shot in the hand.
Man robs Arby's at drive-through
TUCKER - An unidentified man robbed the Arby's drive-through Wednesday at 6334 Lawrenceville Highway, according to police reports.
The manager told police a blue, older-model Lincoln came to the drive-through speaker at 10:17 p.m. and placed an order. When the vehicle approached the window to pay, a Hispanic man wearing a blue bandana over his face got out of the passenger side with a pistol in hand.
The suspect reached through the window and grabbed the cash drawer out of the register. The robber got back into the vehicle and fled north on Lawrenceville Highway, police reports said.
STATHAM - A woman's home was reportedly broken into Tuesday.
The woman returned to her home at Ga. Highway 211 in Statham about 6:10 p.m. and noticed that the front plexiglass door to her mobile home was open, the interior door was unlocked and paperwork in the living room was in disarray, according to a police report.
When the woman also saw that a kitchen cabinet was open, she went to check her jewelry and found it missing, the report said.
The woman reported that six rings worth $5,000, bracelets, necklaces and six watches worth $1,000, three credit cards and various medications worth $1,000 were missing.
Police found no prints at the scene but saw that the door had been pried open and the deadbolt was bent.
Woman allegedly raped at friend's apartment complex
WINDER - A woman was allegedly raped at a friend's apartment early Wednesday.
The woman told police that she had been visiting a friend when a Hispanic man took an interest in her and asked her if she was single, according to a police report. The woman reportedly told the man that she was not available and was not interested in him, but the man began kissing her later when she found herself alone in a room with him, the report said.
The woman allegedly tried to stop him but could not for several minutes, the report said. When she finally got out of the room, the report said, the woman played cards and drank alcohol with the rest of the group.
Between 2:30 and 3 a.m. the man asked the woman to go to his vehicle so he could show her something. There, the man allegedly forced the woman to have sex with him, according to police reports.
The woman went back inside before leaving to go home at 4 a.m., the report said, where she took a shower. She did not report the incident to the police until 5:09 p.m. because she was not sure what to do, according to the report.
