Downtown Winder road work ends

WINDER - Construction on Ga. Highway 11 in Winder is scheduled to end today.

Crews have replaced cracking asphalt from Stephens Street to Shenandoah Drive with concrete, closing lanes for the 24-hour construction project.

Next week, the Georgia Department of Transportation said in a press release, workers will paint stripes on the road and crosswalks, requiring rolling lane closures.

The project resurfaced slightly more than a mile of the road, digging 14 inches underground. It was estimated to cost $1.3 million.
