Mary Kathleen Mohr (Kathy) of Dacula, GA went to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on July 26, 2005 after a long battle with Breast Cancer. Born in LaPorte, Indiana on August 6, 1948, she spent her childhood growing up in Camargo, Kentucky before moving to Trenton, Ohio in her teenage years where she helped her mother run a local restaurant. She graduated from Trenton High School in 1966 as a 4.0 student earning many honors including class Salutatorian and prom queen. In her single years, Kathy was an excellent bowler and loved to dance. She went on to attend Ohio Business College in Columbus, Ohio and upon completion of her studies, accepted a position at NCR's Corporate Headquarters in Dayton, Ohio as a Human Resource Representative and then an executive secretary to the NCR Vice President of Marketing Administration. Kathy met her husband Dick at NCR in Dayton and they were married on September 18, 1971. NCR transferred her and Dick to Atlanta in 1972 where she became a stay at home Mom for son, Shane (1973) and daughter, Kim (1976). From 1982-1984, her family lived in New Hampshire where she adjusted to the cold weather by learning to ski and enjoyed that sport until her family returned to Atlanta in 1984 where they built a home in the wonderful neighborhood of Cherokee Woods East in Lilburn. There she became an active participant in ALTA tennis with her many dear friends also serving as president of CWE's Ladies Club. When her children went off to college, she returned to the workforce with Tucker Federal Savings and Loan in Tucker, GA. In 1996, upon the tragic death of her step son, Todd, and his wife, Sheila, she left her employment to again be a stay at home mom for the surviving grandchildren, Brian and Kelly. Kathy actively supported her family in all of their sports and activities; many times serving as team mom or in whatever capacity she was needed. She enjoyed camping with family and friends when Kim and Shane were growing up and she loved getting away on vacations, especially to Helen, GA and Siesta Key, Fla. Kathy and Dick took many special anniversary trips to NYC, Niagara Falls, Mexico, Hawaii, California, and Bermuda, which she very much enjoyed. Her hobbies included sewing/knitting and preparing family photo albums. Above all her interests and hobbies, however, was the love she had in serving her Lord through worship, Bible study and teaching His Word. Kathy gave her heart and soul to Jesus Christ in 1973 when she was baptized with her son Shane, and for the remainder of her life she spent considerable time studying and teaching the word of the Lord. She was very active in all of the churches she belonged to as both an active choir member and as a Sunday School Teacher. She and her family moved to Dacula, GA in 2000 and belonged to the Hamilton Mill United Methodist Church. She was a long time member of serveral Bible Study Groups and shared her studies of Jesus Christ with her family every day. Kathy was preceded in death by her father, Larry Nissen; her Grandmother, Vista Reed; her father-in-law, Fred Mohr; her stepson, Todd Mohr and wife, Sheila; a close cousin, Michael Reed; and several aunts and uncles.
