3 charged with operating chop shop
DORAVILLE - Three people were arrested last week for allegedly operating a chop shop out of a residence at 185 Lake Drive in Doraville.
The suspects allegedly had three vehicles and a motorcycle which were reported stolen from Lawrenceville, Chamblee, and DeKalb County and had altered vehicle identification numbers, according to police reports. A search of the house also revealed a stolen gun in the bedroom of one of the suspects, 19-year-old Nobphananh Phasadeuang.
Phasadeuang, Khouanpapha Phasadeuang, 17, and Othay Robert Xanonh, 28, were charged with several counts of possessing a vehicle with a stolen VIN.
Men accused of racing motorcycles
DULUTH - Two men were arrested Monday for allegedly racing motorcycles on Breckenridge Boulevard near Boggs Road.
A patrol officer observed a blue 2000 Suzuki and a red 2005 Yamaha motorcycle traveling at a high rate of speed at 9:15 p.m. on Satellite Boulevard. The officer followed the motorcycles onto Old Norcross Road and then onto Breckenridge Boulevard - a known hot spot for illegal street racing, according to police reports.
Both motorcycles then accelerated to speeds of more than 75 mph. The officer pulled over 25-year-old David Joseph Martin and John William Kozak, 24, and arrested them on racing charges.
Robbery victim hit with pepper spray
NORCROSS - A Lilburn man was sprayed with pepper spray Tuesday in a robbery at Willow Trail Apartments.
The victim was walking in the complex at 11:45 p.m. when a white van with ladders on top pulled up to him, according to police reports. Two unidentified Hispanic men dressed in painter's gear got out and asked the victim for directions.
The suspects then sprayed the man with pepper spray and took his wallet before fleeing in the van.
Man arrested after fight with stepson
LAWRENCEVILLE - A Lawrenceville man was arrested Tuesday after allegedly attacking his stepson.
Jimmy Ball, 42, allegedly confronted his 21-year-old stepson about his aggressive driving after following to their house on Georgian Hills Drive from work. Ball became upset and picked up a chair, acting like he was going to hit the stepson.
He then put the chair down and began hitting and choking the stepson, threatening to kill him, according to reports. The victim's mother was able to separate them and Ball left the house, reports said.
Woman charged with battery
WINDER - A woman was arrested for allegedly hitting and biting her husband.
Bobbie Ann Dalton, 25, of Winder, struck her husband in the face and chest several times and bit him on the left side of his chest, according to a police report.
Witnesses said they saw Dalton hitting her husband, the report said, and both parties had visible bruises and redness.
Dalton was charged with battery family violence and cruelty to children following the incident near Woodlawn Avenue and Jerome Street on July 8 at 4:12 p.m.
Work release inmates fight
WINDER - Two Barrow County Work Release Center inmates involved in a fight were removed from the facility.
Anthony Nolen, 27, of Winder, and another man were involved in a fight July 8 at 10:04 p.m. according to a police report.
Nolen, who was holding a bloody rag when police arrived, was transferred to the jail at the Winder Police Department. The other subject was taken to the Barrow County jail.
