Man robs bank with a note

DACULA - An unidentified man pulled a note job robbery Tuesday at the SunTrust bank in the Publix Shopping Center at 2463 Hamilton Mill Parkway.

The suspect - a white man wearing a blue fishing hat, sunglasses, a white T-shirt and blue jeans - approached the teller and said "Hey" in a hoarse voice, according to police reports.

He handed the teller a note and a blue bank bag to place the money in. The suspect threatened he would shoot the teller if he told anyone, and said three accomplices were in the parking lot listening to police scanners.

The note also warned the teller not to include a dye pack with the money or try to trip a silent alarm. The suspect grabbed his note and fled the bank with an undisclosed amount of money.

Man charged with DUI after allegedly fleeing accident

STONE MOUNTAIN - A Lilburn man was arrested on a DUI charge last week after he allegedly fled from the scene of an accident.

Police who were arriving at the scene of the accident on West Park Place and Rockbridge Road on

June 30 observed a tan, 1988 Lincoln Towncar speeding away. A patrol car pursued the Lincoln, but the driver didn't stop, according to police reports.

The Lincoln struck two street signs and drove the wrong way on Rockbridge Road (a one-way street) before coming to a halt in the parking lot of Comfort Inn on 5355 Stone Mountain Highway.

The officer said Daniel McMullian, 44, appeared to be drunk. He admitted consuming two beers, police reports said. He was charged with a host of traffic violations, including DUI, fleeing and attempting to elude police, and driving on a suspended license.

Man claims he was cut by robbers

LILBURN - A Norcross man was cut with a machete last week in an apparent robbery attempt at the Norcross Health Clinic on Georgia Belle Court.

The victim told police two unidentified black men approached him in the parking lot at noon and demanded his money. When the victim didn't hand it over, one of the suspects reportedly cut the victim on the arm with a machete.

The would-be robbers then fled on foot, the victim told police. The victim suffered a deep laceration to his right forearm. Police were unable to confirm any of the details of his story. They also noticed he was intoxicated. The victim was taken to Gwinnett Medical Center for treatment.


Pickup hits tractor-trailer

BARROW COUNTY - A vehicle collided with a tractor-trailer Friday, sending one person to the hospital via helicopter.

The driver of a Chevy S-10 pickup truck rammed the back of the stopped tractor-trailer heading east on Ga. Highway 316 near Kilcrease Road about 2 p.m., Maj. Murray Kogod said.

The driver of the pickup was transported by helicopter to the hospital, he said. Kogod would not release his name pending notification of the person's family.

Traffic was backed up into Gwinnett County following the accident.

Woman allegedly hits twin sister

WINDER - A woman was charged with battery after she allegedly hit her twin sister in the head with a cell phone.

Erica Miller, 25, of Jefferson allegedly sold a car to her sister, then approached her at 7:20 p.m. June 1 to remove the tag from the car.

According to a police report, Miller hit her sister on the forehead with a cell phone and started to wrestle with her. Miller's sister had a bump, a bruise and a scratch on her head, the report said.

Witnesses to the incident on Atlanta Highway told police the woman asked Miller to leave several times.
