Mr. Uzzel went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, June 29, 2005 after surviving courageously and productively for seven years following multiple cancer surgeries. Wayne attended Dunwoody Elementary School, Marist High School, and graduated from Dunwoody High School. He was active in sports and music activities in school and at Dunwoody Baptist Church where he with his parents were charter members. It was in that church and in Riverside Church where he sought to learn about the Christian life and made the decision to seek and find a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. He attended Shorter College, Kennesaw State University, and Epps Flight Schol where he qualified for multiple pilot ratings. During his business career, he worked in commercial real estate for Uzzel Properties, in Christian broadcasting for radio stations WAEC and WFOM, in sales, reporting and technology for twelve years for Construction Market Data Company, and in technology for Intercontinental Hotels. After marriage, he and his family lived in Woodstock, Georgia, briefly in Florida, then in Charlotte, North Carolina, and Snellville, Georgia before moving back to Dunwoody. While living in the Atlanta area, he and his family were active members of Dunwoody Community Church and First Baptist Church of Snellville. Survivors include his wife of 23 years, Denise Murray Uzzel, a native of Athens, Georgia; two daughters, Mallory Brooks Uzzel and Abigail Renee Uzzel; one son, Houston Neils Uzzel; and his parents, Frank and Ardyce Uzzel, all of Dunwoody. Wayne's faith and life were founded in the Lordship of Jesus Christ and his teachings. He brought much love, joy, and encouragement to his devoted family and friends and they will cherish his memory and impact on their lives.
