Man found dead at Duluth apartment complex April 19, 2014

Rev. Ray L. Jordan, age 89 of Lilburn, passed away on Tuesday, January 18, 2005. Mr. Jordan was ordained at Gloster Baptist Church on May 6th 1951. He attended Mercer University Department of Christian Education graduating in May of 1953. He served Snellville Baptist Church, Centerville Baptist Church, Lilburn First Baptist Church and Mt. Zion Baptist Church through 1972. After retirement, he continued to be active in his community of Lilburn, as a substitute preacher and presiding over the occasional wedding or funeral. He was involved in the Masons and received his 50 year pin in 1993 at the Sweetwater Lodge. He was preceded in death by his wife, Lydia Belle Massey Jordan and daughter, Lydia Frances Green Smith. He is survived by his brother, Carl G. Jordan, Jr. of Snellville; sisters, Bernice Moon of Gainesville and Violet Dalton of Lawrenceville; grandchildren, Mike & Suzy, Tim & Denise, Angela & Chuck; and great grandchildren, Gretchen, Samantha, Velinda, Kristy, and Stephanie. A funeral service will be held on Friday, January 21, 2005 at 11:00 a.m. at Wages & Sons Gwinnett Chapel with Rev. Wayne Jordan and Dr. Jack Snellgrove officiating. Interment to follow at Gwinnett Memorial Park, Lawrenceville. The family will receive friends on Thursday from 11:00a.m. to 2:00p.m. and 6:00p.m. to 9:00p.m. at Wages & Sons Gwinnett Chapel, 1031 Lawrenceville Highway, Lawrenceville 770-277-4550.
