State OKs $34.6M Pleasant Hill project
ATLANTA - State officials announced a $34.6 million contract to rebuild the intersection of Pleasant Hill Road and Buford Highway has been awarded to E.R. Snell Contractor Inc. The Snellville-based company could begin work in the coming months on the long-awaited project. According to plans, crews will tunnel Pleasant Hill below U.S. Highway 23 and a nearby railroad crossing. The completion date for this project is scheduled for Oct. 31, 2008. Alcoa gives grants LAWRENCEVILLE - The Alcoa Foundation is a global resource that actively invests in the quality of life in Alcoa communities worldwide. Alcoa Foundation Grants were recently given to the following: •Georgia Conservancy Inc., $5,000 - Educate the public on dangers of air pollution through Clean Air Education Campaign. •Gwinnett Children's Shelter Inc., $7,200 - Shelter and community outreach services for children and youth in crisis. •Boys & Girls Clubs of Metro Atlanta, $5,000 - Teen leadership and employability programming through Junior Achievement Program.•Partnership Against Domestic Violence, $4,640 - Program that focuses on the critical, practical and developmental needs of the children and youth who are victims of domestic violence.
