Man charged with battery, obstructing a law enforcement officer after scuffle

LAWRENCEVILLE - A Norcross man was arrested Sunday after allegedly fighting with a security guard and spitting on customers at Cafe La Vaca at 3580 Sweetwater Road.

Alejandro Tomas Martinez, 27, had left the club earlier in the evening. About 1 a.m., he returned and allegedly tried to push past a security guard. The guard stopped Martinez to question him, and Martinez spun around and punched him, according to a police report.

The security officer struck Martinez and escorted him outside, where Martinez reportedly proceeded to spit blood on several employees and customers. When an off-duty police officer tried to arrest Martinez, he spit a mouthful of blood on the officer's face and uniform, the report said.

Martinez struggled and had to be Tasered twice before he could be handcuffed, the report said. He was charged with battery and obstructing a law enforcement officer.
