Man charged with battery, obstructing a law enforcement officer after scuffle

LAWRENCEVILLE - A Norcross man was arrested Sunday after allegedly fighting with a security guard and spitting on customers at Cafe La Vaca at 3580 Sweetwater Road.

Alejandro Tomas Martinez, 27, had left the club earlier in the evening. About 1 a.m., he returned and allegedly tried to push past a security guard. The guard stopped Martinez to question him, and Martinez spun around and punched him, according to a police report.

The security officer struck Martinez and escorted him outside, where Martinez reportedly proceeded to spit blood on several employees and customers. When an off-duty police officer tried to arrest Martinez, he spit a mouthful of blood on the officer's face and uniform, the report said.

Martinez struggled and had to be Tasered twice before he could be handcuffed, the report said. He was charged with battery and obstructing a law enforcement officer.

Man accused of firing shots into home

BUFORD - A 20-year-old Buford man was arrested Friday after allegedly firing gunshots into a home on Financial Center Way.

A woman was home with her three children at the time Kenneth Martin fired a .22-caliber rifle in the direction of the residence, according to an arrest warrant. Several bullets struck the house, shattering the master bedroom window and puncturing the walls.

Martin is charged with first-degree criminal damage to property and reckless conduct.
