NORCROSS - A resident of Westwoods Apartments in Norcross was arrested Tuesday on charges he tried to set fire to his apartment.
Firefighters arrived at 2:20 p.m. to find light smoke showing from one apartment in a two-story building. The fire was quickly extinguished, said Thomas Rutledge, spokesman for the Gwinnett County Fire Department. The occupant, 23-year-old Juan Roma-Franco, was home at the time of the fire and had to be removed twice by police officers and firefighters. Fire investigators believe he intentionally set the blaze, Rutledge said. Roma-Franco is charged with arson. The flames and smoke caused moderate damage to the room and its contents, but no injuries were reported.More like this story
