Neighbors report vandalism

•LILBURN - Someone tried to set fire to a car and fired gunshots Sunday outside a home on Bradstone Trace.

The victim discovered at 7 a.m. a gas can someone had tried to set on fire by lighting a camouflaged cloth stuffed inside it under his vehicle. The suspects were not successful in the arson attempt, according to a police report.

The same vehicle had also been damaged by a gunshot to the gas tank area. The victim told police he heard gunshots earlier that morning, but found nothing suspicious when he walked outside to investigate.

Another neighbor also reported damage to his home from a gunshot that lodged above the garage door. That neighbor said people were playing baseball in his driveway until 3 a.m. that morning, but he didn't know anything about the vandalism, the report stated.

Norcross man charged with assault

•NORCROSS - A 39-year-old Norcross man was arrested this week for allegedly attacking his wife and threatening to kill her.

Frederick Fears somehow obtained a stolen handgun and brandished it during a dispute Thursday at the couples' residence on Park Lake Lane. He then pistol-whipped his wife over the head and held the gun to her head, threatening her life, according to an arrest warrant. During the altercation, Fears also allegedly choked his wife and punched her in the face.

The woman told police she was very afraid of her husband. Fears is charged with felony aggravated assault, misdemeanor battery and misdemeanor theft by receiving stolen property.

Santa hat causes accident

•BARROW COUNTY - A woman reportedly drove her car off the road after a Santa hat she was wearing slipped over her eyes.

Lyndi Eckardt was reportedly driving north on Pearl Pentecost Road around 7:20 p.m. Dec. 6 when the Santa Claus hat she was wearing slipped over her eyes.

According to an accident report, Eckardt was distracted and drove off the road, rolling into the embankment.

Fight breaks out between neighbors

•WINDER - A fight started outside a Scott Circle home after a woman accused her neighbor of slashing her tires.

The woman had three tires slashed on her car, according to a police report, and accused her neighbor, saying that she was jealous.

A third person pushed the neighbor, the report said, following the incident at 12:30 a.m. Dec. 8.
