STATHAM - Three men were charged in connection with a Statham robbery.
Rico Antwone Evans, 25, Arthur Bernard Middlebrooks, 17, and Roscoe Powers Jr., 27, were charged with armed robbery, aggravated assault, false imprisonment and other weapons charges after two men took between $150 and $200, two cellular phones and cigarettes from a Statham convenience store, Statham police Sgt. Thomas Hinson said.
The men entered the Circle K at 2059 Atlanta Highway about 7:30 p.m. Sunday, Hinson said, and held the store's clerk and two customers at gunpoint. It was the first armed robbery in Statham in more than two years.
The men were arrested in Athens-Clarke County after robbing two more convenience stores in Athens, Hinson said. Statham investigators connected the three to the Circle K robbery.
Hinson said one of the three had driven the getaway car, a blue General Motors passenger car. All three are being held in the Clarke County Jail and will be extradited to Barrow County after the trial has been completed in Clarke, he said. That process could take several months.
