Prep roundup: Jukes leads Comets past Meadowcreek

NORCROSS - Alabama signee Avery Jukes led South Gwinnett past Meadowcreek Monday night 70-65.

Jukes led all South (3-2, 2-2) scorers with 24 points. Delano Howard also had a strong performance with 19 points.

Junior standout Chris Allen led all scorers with 39 points for Meadowcreek (7-2, 3-1)

BOYS BASKETBALL

Central 57, Grayson 53

LOGANVILLE - Central Gwinnett (5-4, 3-0) pulled out a hard-fought victory over Grayson 57-53 on Monday.

The Black Knights were led by Sam Goodman who had 14 points. They also got 12 points from Lonnie Funderburke.

Grayson (2-5, 0-3) was led by Mario Vasser's 15 points.

Shiloh 53, Brookwood 47

SNELLVILLE - Shiloh (5-2, 2-1) topped Brookwood 53-47 on Monday. Jonathan Griffin and Malcom Robinson both had 14 points apiece for the Generals. Allen Andeilija also chipped in with 10 points for Shiloh.

Brookwood (1-5, 1-3) was led by Russ Kanner who had 15 points. Gary Hunter also had 10 points for the Broncos.

Parkview 73, Berkmar 55

LILBURN - Parkview (4-4, 2-1) got a great team effort with four players scoring in double figures as it rolled past Berkmar 73-55 on Monday. Michael Palmer led the way with a game-high 19 points. Evan Gold also chipped in with 18 points for the Panthers.

Patrick Shopeka led Berkmar (2-7, 1-3) with 15 points.

Mill Creek 57, Northview 50

HOSCHTON - Jermaine Jackson led Mill Creek (3-7, 2-2) with 16 points as it topped Northview 57-50 on Monday. Jason Jones also scored in double figures with 10 points.

Naaja Nicholson led Northview with 14 points.

GIRLS BASKETBALL

South 59, Meadowcreek 39

NORCROSS - Alex Winchell led South Gwinnett (6-1, 4-0) with 16 points as it defeated Meadowcreek 59-39 on Monday to stay undefeated in the region.

Gia Lockett also scored 12 points for the Comets.

Meadowcreek (1-6, 0-4) was led by a pair of sophomores. Genea Williams continued her strong season as she led all scorers with 20 points and Camille Jackson had 10 points and 10 rebounds.

Central 56, Grayson 29

LOGANVILLE - Central Gwinnett (7-2, 3-0) jumped out to a 16-2 run to start the first quarter and never looked back as it beat Grayson 56-29 on Monday. Amber Kirkpatrick, one of nine players to score for the Black Knights, led the way with 17 points.

Michelle O'Quinn led Grayson with eight points.

Brookwood 63, Shiloh 47

SNELLVILLE - Lisa Reid and Chioma Okoli both had 17 points as they led Brookwood (5-2, 2-2) past Shiloh 63-47 on Monday. Ashley Green also had a strong night for the Broncos with 15 points and 14 rebounds.

Jessica Baker led Shiloh (5-2, 1-2) with 15 points.

Parkview 58, Berkmar 51

LILBURN - Jessica Geiger led Parkview (4-4, 2-1) with 16 points and 11 rebounds as it slipped by Berkmar 58-51 on Monday. The Panthers also got 16 points from Sczeny Hartry.

Berkmar (5-4, 1-3) was led by Kiara Evans, who had 20 points to lead all scorers.

Mill Creek 51, Northview 40

HOSCHTON - Mill Creek (7-3, 2-2) played strong defense all night as it defeated Northview 51-40 on Monday. Shelbie Pool led the Hawks with an overall performance of 12 points, 14 rebounds, six assists and four steals. Brittany Howes also chipped in with 13 points for Mill Creek.
