Men rob Lawrenceville pizzeria

•LAWRENCEVILLE - Two men robbed the Buck's Pizza restaurant Thursday at 850 Dogwood Road in Lawrenceville.

A manager and a cook were working when two men came into the restaurant at 9:35 p.m. and held them at gunpoint. The suspects stuck the gun in the cook's face and forced him to open up the cash register, according to a police report. Witnesses said the robbers fled through the woods behind the store and ran toward a construction area on Ronald Reagan Parkway.

The robbers are described as white men between 18 to 24 years of age wearing dark sweatshirts with the hoods drawn tightly over their heads and gloves.

Police were questioning one suspect in connection with the robbery, the report said.

Police kill pit bulls

•SUGAR HILL - Two unrestrained pit bulls were shot and killed by police Friday after someone reported they were attacking a neighbor's dog on Hillcrest Green Drive.

Police arrived at the house at 2:30 p.m. to find the pit bulls cornering a dog which was tied in its owner's back yard with a rope. The officers shot and killed the pit bulls, according to a police report.

The resident's dog was seriously injured. It was taken by its owner to an emergency animal hospital. The owner of the pit bulls could not be identified because the dogs were not wearing any ID tags.

Duluth man finds racial slur in garden

•DULUTH - A Duluth man found an anti-Semitic message staked down into the flower bed of his home Friday on Wagon Wheel Trace in the Covered Bridge subdivision.

The victim told police a wet and torn piece of paper was held down with a metal stake which had razor blades taped to it to cause someone injury. The man told police he had problems a few years ago with the neighbors because he is Jewish.

Three summers ago, the family cat was reportedly found decapitated on the front lawn. There were no suspects listed on the report.
