Richport Properties held its groundbreaking Thursday to donate proceeds from the sale of a $226,000 home to a hurricane-devastated Gulf Coast city.

Environmental cleanup of a former gas station's underground fuel tanks is going on at Pleasant Hill Road and Buford Highway. The Department of Transportation is preparing the intersection for a major overhaul and is close to assigning the project to contractors. The plan is to improve the traffic-clogged intersection by running Pleasant Hill Road under Buford Highway and the Norfolk Southern railroad crossing.
