'One Voice' heard by governor

Gov. Sonny Perdue, center, signs a commendation Monday in his office for the Operation One Voice program as Georgia Patrol Officers Stephen Black, left, Johnnie West and Mark Garner, Gwinnett County Fire Department's David Dusik, Carolyn Salvador, who is on the Board of Directors, and Duluth police Officer Bill Stevens look on. Operation One Voice is dedicated to honoring the men and women of the U.S. Armed Forces. It is a campaign to assist the families of U.S. military special operations forces killed in the line of duty. Today there are more than 500 children who have been denied the support of a fallen parent. A primary event of Operation One Voice is a Special Forces Run from Nov. 7 through Nov. 11 in which two teams of military, police, fire and community leaders run from Duluth to Tampa, Fla., to deliver the funds raised for the children. One Voice expects to raise more than $100,000.
