ATLANTA - Forward Kevin Doell and goalie Michael Garnett, who have both played for the Gwinnett Gladiators, were re-signed by the Atlanta Thrashers, general manager Don Waddell announced Friday.
One other restricted free agent, forward Stephen Baby, also was inked to a new deal. Doell was the ECHL Rookie of the Year with the Gladiators in 2003-04 and subsequently signed by the Thrashers. He spent the majority of last season with Chicago in the American Hockey League, before being reassigned to Gwinnett following an injury in March. The 26-year-old had 12 points in 45 games with the Wolves and 15 points in 11 games with the Gladiators during the 2004-05 season. Garnett, 22, posted a 11-9-0 record, 2.86 goals-against average and .911 save percentage in 24 games with Chicago in 2004-05. A year prior, Garnett collected 21 wins for the Gladiators and was one of the league's top goalies. Baby, a 6-foot-5, 230-pound right wing, finished with nine points and 115 penalty minutes in 64 games with Chicago last season.More like this story
