From staff reports
NORCROSS - Lightning from another round of severe thunderstorms sparked a house fire Friday in Peachtree Corners, authorities said. Gwinnett Fire and Emergency Services responded about 4:30 p.m. to a fire at 5915 Crooked Creek Road. Thick flames were shooting from the roof when they arrived. A man escaped the fire with his dogs. No one was injured in the blaze, authorities said. The home suffered heavy damage and the Red Cross was called in to help the man find a place to stay. The thunderstorm that rolled across north Fulton and Peachtree Corners produced hail, high winds and a toppled tree on Winters Chapel Road near Spalding Drive. The storm also knocked out electricity in the area, authorities said. Gwinnett was under a severe thunderstorm warning when lighting struck the house.More like this story
