Prep Roundup: Moreau strikes out 10 in Parkview win

SNELLVILLE - Nathan Moreau struck out 10 batters in six innings as Parkview beat Brookwood 7-3 on Wednesday in Region 8-AAAAA action. The senior lefty allowed just six hits.

Josh Hooper was 2-for-3 with three RBIs for the Panthers (17-5, 10-0), Craig Brisson and David Reynolds both went 2-for-4, Michael Langley added two hits and Leo White chipped in with a solo home run for Parkview.

BASEBALL

Centennial 3, Mill Creek 1

ROSWELL - Karl Schaefer pitched seven strong innings but Mill Creek fell to Centennial 3-1 on Wednesday. Andy Keller produced the only run for the Hawks (15-6, 3-3) with a solo home run.

Peachtree Ridge 0

SUWANEE - Chris Savage pitched five innings of shutout ball, striking out four batters as North Gwinnett defeated Peachtree Ridge 10-0 on Wednesday. Matthew Hale and Ty Goodbar hit home runs for the Bulldogs, whose record is now 9-11 overall and 4-2 in Region 7-AAAAA.

Meadowcreek 0

NORCROSS - Jacob Matheny went 2-for-3 with a triple and two RBIs to help Berkmar defeat Meadowcreek 13-0 on Wednesday. Nick Crabtree added two hits, a double and an RBI and Michael Crabtree had a double and two RBIs for the Patriots (11-11, 5-5). Jason Mudd scattered six hits and struck out six batters, earning the win for Berkmar.

South 10, Central 1

SNELLVILLE - Wes Tignor pitched a complete game, giving up four hits and striking out eight batters as South Gwinnett won an important Region 8-AAAAA matchup 10-1 over Central Gwinnett on Wednesday. Chandler Snell was 2-for-4 with a home run and four RBIs for the Comets (10-11, 6-4), Jackson Dean added a double and three runs scored and Brent Portz had two hits in three at-bats.

Grayson 7, Shiloh 3

LOGANVILLE - Alex Johnson pitched a complete game, yielding seven hits and striking out eight batters as Grayson downed Shiloh 7-3 on Wednesday. Blake Allen was 2-for-4 with a run scored, Scott Shaw added two hits, an RBI and scored a run and Jeff Mitchell and Brad Blalock each had a double for the Rams (13-8, 7-3).

Providence 9, East Hall 4

GAINESVILLE - Joe Hammond struck out 10 batters in four innings as Providence beat East Hall 9-4 on Wednesday. Chris Waites was 2-for-5 with a home run and three RBIs for the Stars (17-5, 11-4), with Drew Holden and Spencer Maddox each going 2-for-3.

BOYS TENNIS

Providence 3, Calhoun 2

CALHOUN - Luke Colombo, Brendan Fitzpatrick and Brent Diers all earned points in singles action as Providence Christian edged Calhoun 3-2 on Wednesday in the first round of the Class AA state playoffs.
