Youth Roundup: Collins Hill wins South Carolina tourney

The 11U Collins Hill baseball team went 5-0 to capture the USSSA Major 11U Championship at Heritage Park in Simpsonville, S.C. on April 10.

The squad is currently ranked No. 1 nationally in the USSSA Power Ranking Poll.

Team members are: Billy Best, Ethan Crist, Kyle Crandall, Holt Davis, Alex Delor, Paris Head, Troy Herterick, Matthew Hester, Bradley Johnson, Jimmy Shea and Nicholas Tillman.

The manager is David Hester and the coaches are Lenny Johnson, Philip Herterick and Jim Shea.


YBOA Broncos go undefeated in tourney

The 15U Youth Basketball Association of America Broncos went 5-0 on their way to claiming the tournament title for the Western Division at the Cherokee Shootout on April 17 in Waleska.

The Broncos, who won a double overtime game and an overtime game along the way, defeated the Georgia Trotters 57-46 to capture the title.

The team members are: Brad Allen, Daron Allen, James Anderson, Joe Cusack, Nate Hamilton, Kyle Hochgertle, Robert Jackson, Zach Simmons, Reggie Wilson, Quentavius Wimes, James Yost and Dawson Zimmerman. The Broncos are coached by Terry Allen and David Zimmerman.

Inner Strength wins state title

The 12U Inner Strength AAU basketball team recently won the state championship with a 50-39 win over the Atlanta Celtics. The squad features five players from Gwinnett County: Brandon Hayman, Corey Heyward, Tyler Gaskins, Drakkar Sanders and Marquise Wise.

Georgia Elite win Cobb County Classic

The 12U Georgia Elite girls basketball team recently won the Cobb County Classic, going undefeated in the 13U division of the tournament.

The team members are: Alex Abraham, Alexandria Armah, Katie Carroll, Jordi Cook, Jessica Crews, Baleigh Coley, Kristen Johnson, Abby Slocumb, Maggie Smith, KaVonne Towns and Stephanie Wheeler.

The team is coached by Johnny Reeves.

Northeast Atlanta Hawks roll through regional

The 10U Northeast Atlanta Hawks girls basketball team recently went undefeated in the Columbus AAU Super Regional, beating the Georgia Pistols 25-19 in the championship game.

The victory earned the team an automatic berth in the AAU National Championships in Orlando from June 26 to July 4.

Members of the team are: Caitlin Conner, Alexis Weaver, Jordan Ulm, Bria Fincher, A.J. Johnson, Tahniya Sweat, Jordan Hyatt, Rachel Waldrop, April Green, Nia Hardy and Tarlesha Wingfield.

The team is coached by Scot Waldrop and assisted by Arlando Johnson.


Futbol Club wins TNFC Spirit Cup

The 14U Gold boys team from the Georgia Futbol Club in Snellville recently won the TNFC Spirit Cup top division soccer tournament in Franklin, Tenn.

The team outscored its first four opponents 17-0 and then won the championship game 3-2 over Hendersonville, Tenn.

Team members are: Robert Bounnakhom, Cole Chandler, Austin Chase, Ryan Christopher, Joey Deloney, Tyler Gutzman, Preston Henssge, Zac Kannan, Richard Klemm, Tyler Landress, Cody McCulloch, Griffin Thomas, Bayan Vojdani and Kyle Waller.

The team is coached by Lloyd White and Andy McCulloch.


Lady Lions win Roswell Classic tournament

The Peachtree Ridge Lady Lions 10U travel softball team won first place at the Roswell Classic ASA fastpitch tournament on April 17.

Members of the team are: Caitlynn Coopoer, Madison Grindstaff, Kelly Ibele, Noelle Kendig, Kendall McKinney, Sammy Pierannunzi, Lucy Riddle, Sarah Sterner, Kelsey Summers and Sarah Walker.
