Shiloh ImagiNation team wins state, heads to global

Students at Shiloh High are finding out just how far their imaginations can take them.

The Shiloh High Destination ImagiNation team won its sixth straight state competition and will head to global competition May 25 through 29 in Knoxville, Tenn.

These creative juniors worked for months to prepare for the competition. They wrote the script about bugs who live behind a Chinese restaurant and used the centrifugal motion from an old dishwasher motor and trash compactor as props.

They nabbed not only sixth place but the Da Vinci Award for exceptional creativity.

Empty Bowls

raises big bucks

Norcross Elementary hosted its second annual Empty Bowls dinner on March 29 in the school's cafeteria.

This dinner raised money for the Norcross Cooperative Ministry, a food bank that serves families in need who reside in the Norcross area.

Empty Bowls began as a service-learning project in 1990 at a high school in Michigan. The goal of Empty Bowls is to raise awareness about the plight of the hungry in our country.

To this date, Empty Bowls dinners have raised millions of dollars for food banks and soup kitchens all over the United States.

This year, the dinner at Norcross Elementary raised over $400.
