Prep roundup: Buford baseball wins 19-10 shootout vs. Dawson Co.

DAWSONVILLE - Jarrod Thomas was 4-for-4 with a home run and two RBIs to lead the Buford Wolves to a 19-10 win over host Dawson County on Monday.

With the win Buford improves to 11-1 overall and 6-0 in Region 8-AA.

The Wolves scored 10 runs in the sixth inning to break open a close game. Chase Burnette was the winning pitcher and also contributed at the plate, going 4-for-5 with two RBIs. Matt Hahn added three hits, including a homer, and three RBIs and Mark Swanson also added a two-run shot for Buford, which had 20 hits as a team.


Dacula baseball wins two of three over the weekend

PHENIX CITY, ALA. - The Dacula baseball team won three straight games over the weekend in an invitational tournament in Phenix City, Ala.

In Game 1, Tait Poitevint hit the game-winning homer in the top of the seventh to lead the Falcons to a 5-4 win over Auburn, Ala. on Saturday. Wesley Cheek added three hits.

In Game 2, Dacula won 8-5 over Phenix City. David Martin pitched three shutout innings to pick up the win in relief and Jeremie Tice added two hits, including a home run and a game-winning double.

Josh Colsson hit two home runs as well for the Falcons.

In Game 3, Dacula fell to Phenix City 4-3.

Tice had a home run and three RBIs and Corey Wilson was 2-for-2.


DULUTH - The Parkview boys shot a 231 to finish second in the 2005 Spring Hill Invitational at the Atlanta Athletic Club on Monday.

Parkview's Michael Saari was the low medalist in the tournament, firing a 72 and Rob Richardson was second with a 73.

Marist won the team event with a total score of 226. Wesleyan tied for ninth, Greater Atlanta Christian was 11th, and Norcross was 14th.
