Meadowcreek's Brittany Hall and Greater Atlanta Christian's Stasia Kelly-Taylor both posted wins this past weekend at the Mobile (Ala.) Meet of Champions, leading a strong showing by county athletes.
Hall won the 800-meter run with a time of 2 minutes, 12.59 seconds while Kelly-Taylor won the triple jump with a leap of 38 feet, 3 inches. Kelly-Taylor was also sixth in the 300 intermediate hurdles with a time of 45.66.
The Collins Hill girls also had a strong showing at the meet. The Eagles won the 3,200 relay with a time of 9:33.29 as Erin Guglielmo anchored the winning effort with a 2:17 split in the 800. Guglielmo also ran well in the 3,200, placing fifth with a time of 11:14.31.
Collins Hill also received a third-place finish from Karena Shell in the pole vault (10-6) and a fifth-place finish from Nicole Okolo in the 100 hurdles (14.92). Ana Ruiz was sixth in the javelin and eighth in the discus (101-8) for the Eagles and Jackie Drouin was eighth in the 1,600 with a time of 5:25.42.
On the boys side, Collins Hill's 3,200 relay team was second with a time of 8:02.57 and the Eagles' Pierre Turner was third in the discus with a throw of 161-9. Collins Hill also got a seventh-place finish from Miguel Amador in the 1,600 (4:27.83) and an eighth from Nathan Frasier in the 3,200 (9:32.54).
Central Gwinnett's Clint Womack was seventh in the 800 with a time of 1:57.25.
