Good news from Schools
LAWRENCEVILLE - Richards Middle School took top honors March 19 at the seventh annual Gwinnett Clean and Beautiful Environmental IQ Bowl. Students from the school competed against teams from 16 other Gwinnett middle schools for the title of bowl champion. They were coached by Rick Frey and Rebekah Spratlin. Other teams who placed in the competition include Osborne Middle School, second place; Pinckneyville Middle School, third place; and Five Forks Middle School, fourth place. Bringing in the dough Six local high school students are winners in the 2005 National Achievement Scholarship Program, which recognizes outstanding black American high school students. As winners, they will receive $2,500 scholarships. The winners are Courtland Allen of Brookwood High, Timothy Jones of Collins Hill High, Tiara Williams of Collins Hill High, Tracey John-Lewis of Dacula High, Ranni Tewfik of Meadowcreek High and Candace Buckner of South Gwinnett High. Calendar April 12 Knight Elementary will sponsor "Stevie B's Pizza Knight" from 5 to 8 p.m. Call 770-921-2400. April 15 Brookwood High students will perform an adaptation of "Frankie and Connie's 1963 Prom" April 15 and 16 at 7:30 p.m. Call the Performing Arts Department at 770-985-0653.
