LAWRENCEVILLE — City and county leaders will meet again in the nearly year-old dispute over service delivery.

Commissioners and mayors are scheduled resume settlement talks at 7 p.m. Tuesday, according to a schedule for commissioners.

The negotiations have been ongoing since March, when the county filed suit after a state-mandated service delivery strategy expired without a resolution.

The talks temporarily suspended when a judge denied the county’s request to use certain fees and taxes collected only in unincorporated areas to provide services only to unincorporated citizens. Earlier this year, the state Supreme Court declined to consider the matter.

“It appears we can take another step,” Chairman Charles Bannister said, adding that he hoped the groups would soon come to a resolution.
