LOGANVILLE — City Council members voted unanimously Thursday to approve two changes to Loganville’s alcohol ordinance.

Hours of sale of beer and wine from retail establishments are now 8 a.m. to midnight, adding two more hours to the previous 10 a.m. start time.

Alcohol sales in Loganville are now allowed on Christmas Day; previously, no sales were allowed on Christmas.

“This change affects mainly retailers like QuikTrip,” said city manager Bill Jones.
Retailers had complained that they were losing business as a result of not being able to sell alcohol before 10 a.m.

Pecan Street drainage project to begin soon
The Pecan Street drainage project will soon be put out for bid from contractors, according to Loganville’s Director of Water Quality Control Chris Yancey.

With the project being funded by a Community Development Block Grant, Yancey also asked council members Thursday to give him the go-ahead to solicit bids for bridge enhancements on Pecan Street.

If all the grant funds are not used on a specific project, those funds will go back into a pool to be granted to another project, possibly in another city.

“We don’t want that,” said Yancey. Council members OK’d bid solicitation for the bridge enhancements on Pecan Street.
