One killed in home invasion

LAWRENCEVILLE — Gwinnett County police are investigating a shooting that left one person dead early Saturday morning.
Gunshots were heard emanating from within the residence at 603 Adams Landing Court in unincorporated Lawrenceville at 2:06 a.m. Saturday, according to a news release. Police arrived at the residence within minutes of the initial 911 call.
Preliminary reports indicate an unidentified black man entered the single-family home, without force, through the front door. The man’s face was obscured, the news release states.
After entering the home, the man went to the victim’s bedroom and confronted the victim through the bedroom door, the news release states. The man subsequently fired at least one shot into the victim’s bedroom, striking the victim.
The man fled the scene after the shooting, the news release states. The victim, whose identity is being withheld pending the notification of his next-of-kin, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Three other people who were in the home at the time of the shooting were uninjured.
Investigators are interviewing witnesses and attempting to determine the motive underlying the crime, as well as any relationship that may have existed between the victim and the gunman, the news release states.
