Last Updated: 7:31 PM 03/09/10 - Guess you heard, Bobby Cox is retiring. As in, “Bobby Cox, who is retiring after this season, blah, blah and blah.”
Wonder if he might not like to think that over again. That isn’t like the Braves skipper to set himself up for the most annoying season in his managing career. What he didn’t realize is that every time his name is mentioned, he’ll have new title — Bobby (Who Is Retiring) Cox. The Retiring Bobby Cox. Bobby Comma Retiring Cox, until the last leaf has fallen from the trees in October. (Full Story)

Last Updated: 6:25 PM 03/02/10 - Look, baseball managers have left before. Some not of their own choosing. Take Casey Stengel, for instance. Bet you didn’t realize that the Yankees fired him, and he didn’t go with a grin on his face. (Full Story)
BISHER: Some lows and highs from world of golf
Last Updated: 8:15 PM 02/27/10 - Care to join me? I’m still in recovery from the Tiger Woods self-cleansing. Which, by the way, was followed up by a presumptuous warning from his goon of a caddie. Steve Williams sent out a growling message that “there will be no heckling” when His Majesty returns to the golf course. (Full Story)

Last Updated: 8:27 PM 02/24/10 - In case it may have escaped your attention during the telecast last week, if you had looked closely you would have noticed that Tiger Woods was wearing no wedding ring. Symbolic, you might conclude, that he was a man living a lie. (Full Story)

Last Updated: 4:30 PM 02/16/10 - In case you missed it, I’ll refresh your memory. On Sunday, they ran a stock car race at Daytona Beach, the crown jewel of NASCAR racing. Those tickets are costly stuff, and 200,000 people were there, to quote the generally accepted figure. (Full Story)

BISHER: Another year to wait for Falcons
1 Comment
Last Updated: 5:45 PM 02/10/10 - Somehow, it doesn’t seem fair. Just to think that it could have been the Falcons. All these seasons, even during the dismal years of the Smith ownership, the Falcons have dominated the Saints — 44 to 37, including the two losses inflicted on them in the season just past. Bisher: Hanson a pleasure to watch on major league mound

Last Updated: 6:48 PM 02/06/10 - The first minute you lay your eyes on Tommy Hanson at work, you know you’re looking at a pitcher. Not just any pitcher, but one staking out his place in the history of the Braves. He got a late start, but that wasn’t his fault. He had to hang around with the new farm club at Gwinnett while the Braves came to grips with what to do about Tommy Glavine. (Full Story)
BISHER: Naysayers have it all wrong when it comes to Warner and Tebow

Last Updated: 8:31 PM 02/02/10 - Over the weekend, two quarterbacks intersected in the news, as two ships passing in the night. One headed ashore, the other setting out to sea, a stormy one at that. Thus, we address the careers of Kurt Warner and Tim Tebow as they head on opposite courses. (Full Story)
BISHER: Nicklaus showed sportsmanship exists on and off course
Last Updated: 9:25 PM 01/30/10 - In case you missed it, Jack Nicklaus turned 70 recently. No big deal, especially to Jack. You live long enough, the sand doesn’t run out in your hourglass, you’ll make it to 70, too. (Full Story)
